The history of State situated on the territory of modern Armenia accounts hundreds of years, so its flag canged many times. Te description of all variants will take too much space because this land knew a great number of leaders governed the country since then.
The modern flag
The modern variant of the national symbol has been used since 1918 after the war with Turkey after which Caucasis Respublic as liqudated and instead of it Armenian Respublic was created. Since then diffirent variats of the national symbol as used from rainbow to bi-couloured field ith national symbols.
The desighn of the modern Armenian flag remains the same since then: three horizontal stripes coloured blue, red and orange.
The meaning of colours
Red colour according to the sources of previous periods symbolised the national fighting for christian religion. Nowadays scienttists also think that it symbolises the blood of armenian soldiers who gave their lifes for governmental independence. Blue colour like in many other countries symbolised peaceful sky and the desire to live without war one of the core values Armenian people fighted for. Orange colour is a symbol of hardworking. Several sources also explain that it is associated with gols like a symbol of fertility of the sol armenians used to gro fruit and vegetables.
