The national flag of the Central African Respublic is used since 1958. Since that time its design remained the same: four horizontal stripes blue hite green and yellow, a verticastill remained in use. l red one in the center and a little yellow star in the left corner
Blue and white colors are chosen to e the symbol of France, yellow and green describe Africal. The red vertical band is a sign that Europe and Africa should live in mutual respect to each other. The star also has symbolic meaning it is used as a symbol of independence.
The national flag was adopted the 1st december 1958 by the Legeslative Assembly. In 1976 it was proposed to replace the flag by the field with cresent. It was connected to the fact that islam became a national religion by the ifluence of Liberia. But it was nothing more a variant. Three days later an official constitution was adopted and a previous flag came in force again as an oficial symbol of a new state. When a Central African Empire fell the flag still remained in use and reflects the core values of the nation.
