Description of the flag
The flag of Cuba is a rectangle, its width is half the length. Its field is horizontally crossed by 3 blue and 2 white stripes separating them, their width is the same. A red triangle with a white star is adjacent to the Flagstaff.
The blue stripes are the 3 divided parts of the island during the Spanish rule. White stripes represent the independence. The red triangle is a symbol of revolution. Red color in memory of the blood spilled for freedom. White star means freedom. This flag is in use since 1850 but it as oficially adopted in 1906. since then it has not been changed thought there was an idea to do after the revolution when a country became socialistin.
But the leader of the country didn`t want the flag to be changed because he liked that the flag meant freedom. Cuba is often called the island of freedom that`s why many people think that the flag reflects the national spirit of the country. The flag of Cuba has the second name a lonely star. It was created by general Lopes and the national writer Miguel Tolon when he was in New York. The legend says he was inspired by the sky.
