The national flag of East Tinor is one of the offiial smbols of the state. It consista of a redfield on the left side of which there is a black triangle with a white five pointed star surrounded by a bigger yellow triangle.
The national symbol was adopted in 2002. The first attempts to adopt a national flag were taken in 1975 then a country got independence from Portugal but nine day later it was invaded by Indonesia. Affter the independence movements started in 2002 a flag of the United Nations was lowered and a new adopted flag of the country was raised.
There were other variants of national flags before the oficial variant was aopted. The first one was sugesten duing the conventio of the first Conseil of national resistence but because of the popularuty f this organization this variant was rejected.
