Mandatory attribute of an independent country in the form in which it is now observed, the government of Honduras approved in 1866. It has a deep connection with the state that defended its independence from the colonizers of Spain. What are the colors and images of the symbol of state power?
History of the flag
The first flag, raised in 1821, was completely different from the current version. It was a cloth with the image of diagonal scarlet, green and white stripes. In the Central part was placed the image of the coat of arms, and on the strips – one star. This flag was in circulation until 1823 and was replaced by another, more similar to the modern attribute of independent power.
The new state symbol had 3 stripes: blue top and bottom, and the middle – white. The coat of arms was traditionally in the center. This option was relevant until 1839, and then again changed: calm blue shade was replaced by a bright blue, and the coat of arms was removed at all.
Only 27 years later, the government of Honduras has carried out another design change: in the center “settled” five azure stars, and the top and bottom again became azure. In 1898, the authorities decided to change the color of the stars to gold, but in 1949 returned them again to the heavenly color.
Meaning of colors and symbols
The flag of Honduras is a flag, the sides of which correspond to each other in the proportion of 2:1. The width of the symbol is divided into three equal fields: the snow-white middle on top and bottom “pressed” bright blue parts. The center is decorated with five-pointed stars: one in the middle and two on each side of the imaginary rectangle.
