A flag of Lebanon is formed of two horizontal red stripes and a white one in the center. On a white stripe there is a green cedar touching each of red stripes.
The Lebanon ceder is placed on the flag because this country is rich in this trees. This tree symbolizes holiness eternity and peace. Also ceder is a long growing tree and it is used to highlight that the peaceful atmosphere should last for a long time. Also it must be noted that ceder has lots of reference to the Bible. A famous writer mentioned that in the Bible this tree is mentioned 35 times. White colors is represented on a national symbol as a sign of snow which stands for the purity and peace. Red has a traditional for heraldic meaning it represents blood shed by local patriots in its fight for independence. The size of the flag, its color and placement is written in Lebanon constitution of the article 5.
