The flag of Liberia reassembles a lot with the flag of the United States. The design was make like this to show American and ex-Caribbean origins of the country. The flag has eleven red and white stripes with a white star on a blue field at the canton. The current flag in its present form was adopted on 26 of July 1848.
Eleven stripes symbolize courage and moral excellence. Blue field at the canton represent African origins of local people. White star stand for the first independent State on the territory of African continent. In 1820-1830 this flag was changed and modified, because it reassembled the United States flag. This flag was modified with the help of American Colonization Society. From 1822 the country associates itself with Afro American countries in order to distinguish themselves from the firs settles on the territory. The flag may be seen in many ships all over the world because the country offers registration under its flag.
