Flag Of Madagascar

The flag of Madagascar was adopted in 1958, it happened soon after the country gained independence from colonial rule of French community. The national colors used on the flag are used as symbols of the country`s history and the struggle for the independence. Red and green colors were used as a symbol of the last Merina monarch. Green is also a color of ethnic group of peasants who played an important role in the national anti colonial movement. This flag as a national symbol is respected by local citizens. They believe that the flag reflects the country`s rich historic future and represents the national core values. The official flag of Madagascar is used everywhere in the country: it is flown on public buildings and in days of national holidays people with national flags may be seen everywhere. It happens because they believe that respect to the national symbols should be taught from childhood. The local citizens think that if a child learns to respect the country he or she was born from childhood he or she will grow responsible and ready to struggle for the national prospering.
