The national flag of the Marshall Islands was adopted soon after this island state gained self-governance. Emlain Kaboua the first lady of the country in this period was the designer of this flag.
The flag represents a blue field with two diagonal stripes from lower two the upper part. In the upper left part of the flag, there is a white sun with four big rays and twenty smaller ones.
Before the Marshall Islands were a part of the Trust territory of the Pacific ocean. Like many other island countries, the flag represents a country`s unity with the Pacific ocean. The diagonal band is a symbol of the equator. The star above these stripes represents Northern Archipelago. White and orange parts of the diagonal band represent sunrise and sunset. 24 points represent the electoral parts of the country. For rays are the biggest cultural centers of the country.
