The national flag of Philippines is a bicolor consisting of equal bands of royal blue and scarlet. At the hoist there is a equatorial triangle of white. In the center of the triangle there is a five pointed star with four rays. At the corners there are three stars each representing main groups of islands.
Three colors of the national flag have very symbolic meaning they symbolize liberty, equality and fraternity. A golden sun symbolize unity freedom democracy and people`s soul. Each ray represents a province with a significant influence.
This flag has been developing since 1960 s, this flag was adopted to military flags of Katipunan. This time the country was oppressing the Spanish rule. Red color signified blood of patriots shed for independence of their country.
This flag was in use till 1941 after invasion of Japanese after that it was banned to be hoisted until the second Republic of Philippines was established.
