The flag of Swazilend was adopted soon after the country gained independence from British empire. It is based on the design proposed by the first King of this country.
In 1967 the King gave up his power and the design of the official flag was proposed. The next day this flag was hoisted for the first time. The original flag is based on the national coat of arms. Each color used in the national flag of arms have symbolic meaning. Red has a specific relation to the country1`s historic past. Blue is a symbol of peace and stability, yellow stands for the rich natural resources of the county.
In the center of the national flag there is a shield with to spears representing the country`s protection from colonial invaders. Black and white colors are used on the flag symbolizing peaceful coexistence of black and white people on the continent.
