The individual banner of Tunisia remained in its original beauty, just nearby, in the immediate vicinity was the flag of France, which indicated that Tunisia is under the protection of the French state.
In 1974, the two governments of Libya and Tunisia held a referendum on the unification of the two countries into a single Arab Islamic Republic. And even developed a flag of the United country, on which the Islamic symbols of the star and the Crescent of red color had to show off on the Central white strip surrounded by red and black stripes. The peoples of both States strongly opposed this decision of the government. And the unification did not happen, this attribute of the failed state has not been translated into reality.
The Tunisian flag was specified in the Constitution and registered in 1999 on 3 July.
