Flag Of Turkmenistan

Description

The Turkmen flag is a large green canvas in the shape of a rectangle. It is a bright red stripe. Just to the right of it are the stars and the Crescent moon. The symbols on the band represent the five regions. They are made in their own style with the use of special techniques.

At the bottom you can see two mirror branches of the olive tree, which stretch upwards. They are a symbol of the fact that Turkmenistan is free, independent and maintains a neutral position in world politics. All the elements described above make up a single composition.

Brief historical information

The state itself was formed in 1991 after the collapse of the USSR. The form of government is now a presidential Republic.

1991 — 1992

The capital is the beautiful city of Ashgabat. The national language is Turkmen. Islam is the traditional religion. The territory is home to approximately five and a half million people, most of whom are indigenous Turkmens.

1992-1997

The appearance of the flag was approved a year later, in 1992. Since then, some changes have been made and the final decision was made only in 2001.

1997-2001

The interpretation of the symbolism of the flag

  • Each of the elements of the national flag has its own meaning:
  • Green. It is a symbol of life, joy and prosperity. It also shows the neutrality of the country on the world stage.
  • Burgundy stripe. It represents the five main regions of the country. Each of them shows the characteristic carpet ornaments. Each of them has its own meaning. For example, the upper figure indicates the cycle of rotation of the Earth around the Sun. The middle ornament means the cycle of life and death.
  • The olive branches at the bottom of the red stripe symbolize neutrality and state sovereignty.
  • The Crescent moon signifies a time of peace.
  • Crescent stars are also symbols of the areas, and their white color speaks of peace and tranquility.
