The Republic of Uganda is a small country in Africa, until 1962 it was a colony of great Britain. The official flag of Uganda was adopted this year, and symbolizes the liberation of the country and independence.
Designation and symbolism of the flag
The flag is a canvas evenly divided by six stripes. The colors are presented in the following order – red, yellow, black, red, yellow, black stripes. In the center of the flag is the national symbol of the state – crowned crane, in a white circle.
This species of birds lives exclusively in East Africa, and has preserved to date a large population, despite the deteriorating living conditions. It is endurance and unpretentiousness, as well as the beauty of this bird and became the conditions of its appearance on the national symbols of Uganda. The colors of the flag are quite symbolic, they represent the peoples of Africa-black, the scorching sun over the country – yellow and gaining independence and freedom – red.
Before independence, Uganda used stylized flags of great Britain, and only in 1962 was presented the first flag, which lasted only half a year. It was a canvas divided by vertical stripes of green, yellow, blue, yellow, green colors. And in the center of the blue band was a yellow crane.
