The flag of Florida – the symbol of one of 50 US states.
The flag consists of the red stripes organized diagonally. The stripes are crossing in the middle on a white field as a background. In the middle of the flag the state seal of Florida is placed. The seal represents a sabal palm tree (which is an official state tree of Florida), a Seminole Indian female, and a steamship. The inscription, “Great Seal of the State of Florida: In God We Trust” written in the red letters on a gold background is placed inside the circular border of the seal.
The latest version of the flag of Florida was approved in 1900 by popular referendum taken place on November 6, 1900. The design of the current flag is very similar to the flag of 1868. Before 1868 Florida had flags of the other states, such as France, Spain, Great Britain, the USA (national flag). Some changes were made to the current design of the flag in 1985.
