The flag of Oregon – the symbol of one of the 50 US states.
It is the only flag among the US states that depicts images in front and in the back (two-sides flag). The images and letters of the flag are all golden. The field of the flag is blue, which is considered to be a state color of Oregon. The part of the seal of the state is depicted on a flag. Furthermore, there is an inscription, “STATE OF OREGON” and a year written “1859” on the top and on the bottom, respectively. 1859 is a year when Oregon became a part of the USA. It was the 33rd state entering the Union, thus, the 33 stars of a seal symbolize this historic number for the state. There is the figure of a beaver on the reverse side, as Oregon is known as a beaver state.
The flag was adopted in 1925. In 2009 there were attempts to redesign the flag. However, the public vote showed the inhabitants of the state preferred not to change anything in their symbol. In 2013 the Oregon Senate issued a bill to change the flag, but it did not pass.
